The sleep machine still on the nightstand is a fire recall

Products · September 30, 2026 · 2 min read · By AnbuBaby

CPSC posted the Love to Dream portable sleep-machine recall on September 24. By September 29 it was still moving through California papers as a “baby product sold here for fire and burn hazards.” That lag is the story. The unit is small, it lives next to the crib, and parents who bought it months ago did not get a push notification.

What was recalled

About 4,000 Love to Dream portable sleep machines. Date code to check: 7W15TN. The lithium-ion battery can overheat while charging with some chargers. Fire and burn hazard. Consumer Reports updated its 2026 baby-product recall list on September 29 with the same unit at the top.

Remedy: stop using it, including overnight white noise. Contact Love to Dream at [email protected]. Do not leave a recalled battery pack on charge unattended while you wait for a reply.

Why it matters this week

September is Baby Safety Month on the federal calendar. The same 10-day stretch produced the Aitjunz dresser STURDY tip-over recall, 5Color kids helmets that failed the helmet standard, and a stack of Amazon teether and busy-board choking recalls. Sleep products are the category that kills. A white-noise machine is not a crib bumper, but a lithium pack that can cook on the changing table is not “just electronics” either.

What to do tonight

  • Turn the machine over. If the date code matches, unplug it and take it out of the nursery.
  • Register every sleep product you own — crib, bassinet, dock, sound machine — with the maker. That is how you hear about the next one before a newspaper rewrite.
  • CPSC.gov/recalls and Recalls.gov emails cover gear. NHTSA covers car seats. FDA covers formula. Three lists, not one.

This is a product-safety note, not a medical article. If a device has already overheated, treat burns as a medical visit and keep the unit for the recall claim.
