A short briefing for parents, 30 September 2026 mid-morning wrap. Editorial context, not medical advice.
## 1. Two measles counts, same week
Johns Hopkins listed 3,782 confirmed US measles cases for 2026 as of 25 September. CDC still listed 3,659 as of 24 September. Pennsylvania added 129 confirmed cases in seven days. Read the deep dive: https://anbubaby.com/blog/measles-count-split-jhu-cdc-30-september-2026
## 2. World Meningitis Day is Monday, 5 October
Campaign groups are posting infant red-flag lists this week. Bacterial meningitis can move in hours. Vaccines against Hib, pneumococcus, and meningococcus prevent some causes, not all. This is not a diagnosis card.
## 3. Leftover from earlier briefings
- Kids 6 months through 8 years who still need two flu doses this season are out of comfortable calendar. Dose two waits 28 days.
- The continental-US RSV antibody window opens 1 October.
- Dollar-bin ABC Trading light-up toys still fail Reese’s Law battery doors. Unanchored Aitjunz 8-drawer dressers still fail STURDY.
Ask the child’s clinician what that child should receive and when.
