Parent briefing: morning notes (24 September 2026)

Parenting · September 24, 2026 · 2 min read · By AnbuBaby

Short notes from the last day that actually change a parent plan. Celebrity pregnancy announcements are omitted.

## 1. RSV shot calendar now runs into March

ACOG’s September 2026 schedule addendum keeps maternal Abrysvo at 32–36 weeks but extends the continental US season from September through **1 March**, not 31 January. Late-winter peaks in 2025–2026 are the reason. If you are 32–36 weeks in February, ask whether the clinic still treats that week as in-season. Repeat maternal doses are not recommended; the next baby then relies on nirsevimab.

## 2. UK placenta accreta investigation is live

HSSIB opened a national probe on 22 September into antenatal diagnosis of placenta accreta spectrum and referral into specialist centres. Campaign data from Action for Accreta: 61% undiagnosed before birth. Risk rises with prior uterine surgery, including caesarean. If you have a scarred uterus and a low or anterior placenta, ask whether the 18–20 week scan was read with PAS in mind.

## 3. Organic formula distribution is widening in Southeast Asia

Bubs Australia awarded Malaysia distribution and marketing to Astra Baby Group this week. That does not change safety rules. It does mean more shelf SKUs labelled “organic infant.” Keep using the formula your paediatrician already signed off; new brands still need local registration and safe-prep habits.

## 4. Still worth a bookmark from this week

- Swedish JAMA Pediatrics work on rare TORCH infections and later autism/disability risk — rare events, not a reason to panic-test every newborn.
- MHRA alert that wireless fetal monitors can pick up the wrong baby — confirm the trace belongs to your infant if two monitors are in the room.

None of this replaces the clinician in front of you.
