Parent Briefing: Shared Milk Supply Linked in Closed Formula Botulism Outbreaks — What to Check Today

Newborn · October 15, 2026 · 1 min read · By AnbuBaby

Short notes for parents, 15 October 2026. Editorial context, not medical advice.

## Shared supply chain confirmed

FDA updates this week confirmed that genetic testing links the closed 2025 ByHeart infant-botulism outbreak (48 cases) to the closed 2026 Nara Organics outbreak (4 cases) through a shared powdered-milk supplier. Both outbreaks are over. No new cases have been added.

## What to do

- Check cupboards and freezers for any remaining ByHeart or Nara Organics formula. Discard it if found.
- The overall U.S. formula supply is not affected.
- Continue normal safe mixing and storage habits.

## Clinic ask

If your infant has been fed either brand recently and develops constipation, weak cry, poor feeding, or muscle weakness, go to the ER and tell the team which formula was used.
