Parent Briefing — November 2, 2026 #

Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels Recall Still Active The voluntary recall of all flavors, lots, and package sizes of Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars remains in effect after FDA reports of toddlers (ages 1.5–2.5) suffering complete airway obstruction. When chewed, the bars can form a dry, sticky mass that may resist back blows and the Heimlich maneuver. Some incidents required emergency response and hospital observation. Sold at Costco, Target, Walmart, Amazon, and elsewhere. Throw away any remaining product. Company is reformulating. #

PILLANI Nursing Pillows Recalled CPSC recalled approximately 25,762 PILLANI nursing pillows (model NP4351, batches 202604–202606) sold on Amazon April–September 2026. They violate the mandatory nursing pillow safety standard because they can obstruct an infant’s breathing, posing a suffocation risk. No injuries reported. Stop use immediately and contact PILLANI ([email protected] or pill-ani.com/pages/recall) for a refund. Between 2010 and 2022, CPSC documented 154 infant deaths associated with nursing pillows. #

Measles Update CDC reports U.S. measles cases at 4,852 (as of late October), the highest in decades, with Pennsylvania at 1,426 cases, 268 hospitalizations, and 5 confirmed measles-associated deaths. 96% of cases are in unvaccinated or unknown-status individuals. Early MMR dosing for infants in high-risk areas continues under clinical guidance. Two doses of MMR remain ~97% effective. #

Balloon Choking Hazard Reminder Coverage continues of the October 24 death of an 11-month-old in Kenosha, Wisconsin, after a balloon animal fragment lodged in the esophagus at a trunk-or-treat. Standard interventions failed. Parents are reminded that latex balloons are a leading choking hazard for children under 8; keep them away from infants and toddlers. #

What Parents Can Do Now - Discard any Tractor Wheels bars and PILLANI pillows. - Check CPSC.gov/recalls and FDA.gov for the latest product alerts. - Confirm household MMR status, especially for infants and household contacts in outbreak areas. - Practice safe sleep and feeding: firm, flat surface only; no soft pillows or nursing pillows that fail standards for unsupervised use. - Report adverse events to CPSC (saferproducts.gov) or FDA. Sources: FDA alert (Oct 30), Once Upon a Farm press release, CPSC PILLANI recall (Oct 29), CDC measles data, Pennsylvania DOH updates, family and local reporting on the Kenosha incident. This is general information for parents, not medical or legal advice. Consult your pediatrician for individual guidance.
